Program Overview

San Jacinto Elementary utilizes the American School Counseling Association National Model for school counseling, as well as the Texas Comprehensive Developmental Guidance and Counseling Program Model.

Our guidance and counseling program at San Jacinto Elementary consists of the following components:
  • Guidance Curriculum - Lessons will be presented in developmentally appropriate fashion in order to help students develop skills that are needed in everyday life situations.
  • Responsive Services - Consultations, counseling (individual and small group), and referrals may be utilized to assist the immediate concerns of a student.
  • Individual Planning - Assistance will be provided to help students plan academically and set goals, as well as monitor and understand their progress and development.
  • System Support - Consultations amongst teachers, administrators, parents, and the community, parent education, and staff development will be utilized to enhance the guidance program.

Confidentiality:

Students are entitled to confidentiality rights just as adults are, however, there are times when disclosure is required to prevent harm to the student or to others. The primary obligation for confidentiality is to the student, but there is an understanding of the legal and inherent rights of the parents and guardians to be the guiding voice in their children's lives.
