Deer Park ISD is offering a summer camp for incoming kindergarten students. The program is open to students who will begin kindergarten at any of the District’s elementary schools in August.
According to Parkwood Elementary Principal Debbie Yampey, the program is intended for students who have not experienced a formal instructional setting. “This is a wonderful opportunity for children to see how school works and learn valuable skills and routines,” she said.
Enrollment in Kinder Camp is free, but students must participate in a screening to determine eligibility. Screenings will take place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, at San Jacinto Elementary, located at 1302 E. 13th Street in Deer Park.
Kinder Camp will take place at San Jacinto Elementary from 8 a.m.-noon on Mondays-Thursday from July 5-28. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided for participating students. Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from Kinder Camp.
